BEREA -- With a smirk and a chuckle under his breath, Jim Brown gave it away.
Even at 78 years old, even with a cane at his side, something smooth and just plain cool radiates from the Browns' legend.
He gets "it." He understands the Johnny Manziel vibe. He understands what Johnny Manziel is. And, silently, he gave his approval.
Then, he confirmed it:
"I like Johnny, you know, I like his type," Brown told ESPN Cleveland's "The Really Big Show" on Friday. "Johnny is a champion, Johnny won games in college. He won the Heisman Trophy as a freshman, didn’t he? … That’s pretty bold. Not bad. You got to have something going on to do that."
Brown -- 57 years Manziel's senior -- seems to easily identify with the first-year QB who can't stay out of the news.
"You’ve got to remember, I’m an ex-player. We used to party," Brown said. "Let’s get real, man, we chase girls."
Brown was quick to condemn alcohol and drug use and abuse -- simply brushing along side the topic of Johnny partaking in any of those vices turned Brown's face stone-serious. But some good old-fashioned fun away from the field for someone who produces on it?
“There’s nothing wrong with it.”
