From my article in Ante Up Magazine, if you are not a reader, you should give it a spin it's a great source of information about where to play.
The Horseshoe in Cleveland continues to be among the busiest poker rooms in the country with consistent action in both $1/$2 and $2/$5 Hold'em and PLO as well as various fixed limit games. The first tournament was held on a Monday at noon with a $200 buy-in and netted 182 players. The Horseshoe currently has just two tournaments a week, both at noon one Hold'em one PLO. They also feature an end of month event with a $500 buy in. The first $500 event had 142 players and was won by Jonathan Burris - first place was $18,200 but there was a chop involved. There were no satellites to this event, poker room manager Jeremy Smith was just giving the players what they asked for a $500 buy-in.
For a new casino market, the PLO action in Cleveland is nothing short of amazing. It's amazing for a developed casino market. If you are looking for action, the Horseshoe has plenty
The Hollywood Toledo continues to chug along with both cash game and tournament action. Hollywood Casinos own Hollywood Poker Open is sure to bring poker players plenty of action this coming year. Hollywood has a very strong $1/$2 offering and on the weekends $2/$5 action. Also from the Hollywood Brand in October comes the Grand Opening of the Columbus casino. Players are really looking forward to playing the Poker Open.
Finally as if this was not enough, Buckeye Charity Poker, in Willoughby Hills, located just east of downtown Cleveland, a new 17 table completely automated PokerTek room opened in September with a huge selection of games and the widest tournament schedule in the region. A fan favorite is the .25/.50 PLO game that is a very good training ground for bigger games. The rake is right and the game plays big. The room features a very unique game selection like a $10 rebuy during Monday Night Football and promotions every night. It's a fun place to play for lower stakes.
