They're Not Perfect, But Yet, They Are!

Nov 19, 2012 -- 12:24pm

By Kenny Roda

I’m not sure how they did it, but they did it. Again! They were outgained in total yards. They lost the time of possession battle by an almost two-to-one margin. They blew a 14-0 lead, including giving up the game-tying touchdown with :08 seconds left at Wisconsin. But somehow, someway, the Buckeyes beat the Badgers in overtime 21-14 to remain perfect at 11-0.  The defense carried the team to the Big Ten Leaders Division Title and a chance to go 12-0 next week when they host Michigan at noon.

John Simon was exactly what Urban Meyer called him earlier in the year, “A grown ass man.”  Simon finished the game with four sacks.

Ryan Shazier is on his way to becoming a “Grown ass man” as he had 12 tackles, three tackles for loss, one pass break up, one forced fumble and numerous quarterback pressures.

Bradley Roby didn’t make a ton of plays, but had a huge pass break up in the end zone.

Christian Bryant was huge in crunch time coming up with the Montee Ball fumble in regulation and then breaking up the final pass play of the game in overtime to secure the win.

Even though he got beat for the game-tying touchdown, Zach Boren played a solid game at linebacker with 12 tackles and a number of Ping-A-Ling-type hits!

Carlos Hyde was underused, but made the most of his touches with 87 yards on 15 carries and both offensive touchdowns.

Corey “Philly” Brown impacted the game on special teams scoring the game’s first touchdown on a 68-yard punt return and also hauled in four passes for 48 yards.

So as the Wolverines come to town this week for the greatest rivalry in college football, the Buckeyes will look to win one more game. If they do, they’ll become just the sixth team in Ohio State history to complete a season undefeated and untied. Another way of describing that is, PERFECT!
