Browns Pro Bowl LT Joe Thomas is in New Orleans at the Super Bowl and was nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. He joined Rizz on Friday's show.
On New Coach Rob Chudzinski
"This will be my fourth head coach in seven years. Having Chud my first two years, I was excited about his offensive mind and his leadership skills back when he was just an offensive coordinator for us. At that point, I said that I thought he would make a great head coach some day. Of course, little did I know that he would be coming back full circle and get his first opportunity to be a head coach in Cleveland in my seventh season."
On the Browns Hesitancy to Back QB Brandon Weeden
"Any time you bring in a new head coach, the first thing he is going to try to do is create competition at every position. Obviously, quarterback is universally accepted as the most important position on the football field. So he's going to want to create competition, not name anybody the starter, and give everybody a chance. Whether we draft somebody or bring anybody in, certainly it is going to be a competition, and they are going to let the best man win."
On his nomination
"Just to be named in the same sentence as Walter Payton is unbelievable. He was a guy that was one of the best players to ever play this game. The impact he made off the field was almost as big as the impact he made on the field."
